That’s exactly what you’ll find at Curious Clothing - a charming clothing boutique nestled in the heart of Mosgiel, just outside of Dunedin City.
Who and what is Curious Clothing?
Owner, Renee Hodge sells mostly New Zealand-designed women’s fashion and accessories with the help her family and team of wonderful personal stylists. They are a locally owned family business and specialise in making time for you. Curious Clothing started with the hope of making shopping easy and enjoyable for everyone.
How did Curious Clothing come to be?
Renee saw an opportunity at beginning of 2020. She identified a gap in the fashion market of Mosgiel town and when this business came on the market (just 30mins away from Milton) she couldn’t turn down the chance!
What challenges have you overcome to get here?
COVID-19! Starting a business in a pandemic isn’t the easiest of tasks. Lockdowns, red light settings, social distancing, Omicron circulating in the community. On top of this, a drastically increasing cost of living leaving less disposable income, challenges with stock delivery delays, and overseas factories closing. Sigh.
What are you most proud of in your business so far?
Renee’s team of staff have been her rock, their ability to overcome all the above mentioned challenges and continue to grow - despite them - has been amazing.
Where do you hope to see your business in the next year?
Substantial growth! In the next year, Renee would love to see online sales to take off with both local customers as well as customers located all around the country.
Do you have any advice for someone want to start their own business?:
“Take a risk! Back yourself. Make mistakes, learn as you go, evolve, respond to the ever changing environment”.
